Shaolin Kung Fu
Shaolin Kung Fu provides a full body workout and develops mind/body coordination through the practice of traditional exercises and forms. Other benefits of this ancient Chinese system of self-defense include stress reduction, improved concentration skills and physical conditioning. We teach the authentic Shaolin methods of Grandmaster Tak Wah Eng of New York’s Chinatown, who is one of our adjunct instructors.
A
typical one hour class begins with Shaolin
stretching and conditioning exercises. Students then practice a
series of basic forms as a group. Instructors finally work with
students in small groups or individually, to convey every detail
of each new form they are taught. Our curriculum is designed in
conjunction with Grandmaster Tak and students progress through
the forms at their own pace, deriving the considerable health
benefits of practicing and performing the authentic forms of the
Shaolin Temple.
Shaolin
Kung Fu for Kids
This special program offers our younger students a rare opportunity to experience tradi-tional Shaolin Kung Fu. With our entertaining yet educational approach, children ages 7 and up have the opportunity to challenge their minds and bodies while developing an appreciation for the authentic techniques and movement of the Shaolin.
In
addition to our regular classes, we are able to offer special
clinics from time to time that are taught directly by
Grandmaster Tak. The forms taught in Grandmaster Taks clinics
are not part of our regular curriculum, so our instructors learn
along with our students. Eventually, clinic forms are added to
our program, usually about a year after the clinic, so that
students who are not able to attend the clinics will have access
to the material. Be sure to visit our
Photo Album to view pictures of previous clinics.
